My name is Rob Tucker, and I’m an IT Professional living and working in Cardiff, South Wales, UK.
Since I first registered my domain name in 2001, I’ve rarely used it to to host a website. In 2008, I decided to change that, and actively started looking for an off-the-shelf CMS that I could use to host my new website. This is the result.
Expect to find here the general ramblings of my mind, interspersed with (hopefully) useful articles that I’ve written, and other stuff that I’ve discovered around the Interwebs. Thanks for visiting.
Background
I’ve been ‘online’ since the 1990′s, and have contributed to several websites along the way.
Most notably, around 1999, I became involved with a popular website for users and fans of PowerVR technology, called ParaKnowYa. At that time, PowerVR technology could be found in many desktop graphics card products, but most famously, it was the graphics processor in the Sega Dreamcast games console, and Sega Naomi (used in games machines for arcades).
In November 2002, I was the co-founder of the PowerVR Generations website, which was also a community website for users and fans of PowerVR technology. The site was powered by my own custom CMS, which I wrote in Perl. In late 2006, due partly to PowerVR pulling out of the desktop graphics card market, the decision was taken to close PowerVR Generations. I’m still an avid follower of their technology, which can now be found in the Pandora, Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, amongst others.
Over the years, I wrote many news items, product reviews and articles for both sites.
